ATNARKO
RETREAT ON CHARLOTTE LAKE
Trailriding
Explore
the world from the back of a horse
The lodge does not have any horses, but we work very closely
with the Trail riders in the area who will take you out for
a horseback ride for just a few hours, or on multiple day
tours through our region.
You
can choose if you would just like to try it out for a two
hour ride. Walk with the horse over meadows, enjoy the scenery
and just feel like a Cowgirl or Cowboy. Or go for a whole
day ride, with a lunch break in a sheltered spot and get your
guide to tell you some stories about the area and the people
living here.
It is also possible to go for multi day trail rides. Your
guide brings you into the alpine
area where you have the chance to see lots of wildlife and
untouched nature. On the multi day rides your accommodation
will be tents and your meals will be cooked over an open fire.
There are a wide variety of trips to choose from. Contact
us and we'll arrange your horseback adventure.
Please give us lots of notice if you would like to go on a
multi day ride.
There is much to be recommended about seeing the world from
the back of a horse. There are so many details about the surrounding
country that you can enjoy, beca use
your seat is higher than if you are walking. And horses notice
things. Watch their ears closely, Often if they prick up forward
of your direction, they've spotted something you haven't.
A coyote, a fox, or a moose perhaps.
Most enjoyable about a horseback ride is that the horse does
a lot of the work for you. You can cover so much more ground
and see so much more country without being exhausted from
hiking for miles. It's a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon
of riding or a pack trip over several days where you can see
lots of alpine country.
On a multi day ride you will delight in rolling out of your
bedroll in a high mountain morning
to breath in clean, fresh air, and enjoy a hearty breakfast
made over a campfire. Stop for lunch on a wildflower covered
hillside and languish in a warm, drowsy afternoon. Especially
fun after an adventurous day of riding is to be able to sit
around an inviting campfire and enjoy the stories, the laughter
and the camaraderie of your fellow riders.
